Improvement of Migration Situation in Cyprus
July 10, 2026
The migration situation in Cyprus has significantly improved, with asylum seeker arrivals decreasing by 92% in the first half of 2026 compared to 2022. The ratio of arrivals to departures has reached 1 to 5, with 35,000 third-country nationals leaving since the current government took office. Infrastructure upgrades have been carried out, including the First Reception Center at Pournara. The government is investing in strategies for legal migration and the reintegration of migrants. However, there are still 13,500 asylum applications pending.
