Issues in Transitioning to the New Television Technology
July 12, 2026
The transition process to the new DVB-T2 technology for terrestrial digital television began with numerous problems and complaints from citizens. According to the Deputy Minister, the Cypriots were not adequately informed about the change, and they also bear some responsibility for their lack of preparation. The Ministry admitted the project's initial failure and announced the restoration of the Velister platform to assist consumers. Parallel broadcasting from Velister and Hellas Sat will continue for three months. Citizens faced widespread issues with their TVs, as many had not properly prepared for the change.
