Failure in Transition to High-Definition Television in Cyprus
July 13, 2026
The transition to high-definition television in Cyprus results from 15 years of poor decisions and political neglect. In 2010, the licensing for digital television turned into a fiasco with excessively high costs. This situation led to quality issues and technological stagnation. With the previous license expiring, the government had to act to secure free television transmission. A new provider has promised improved image quality and coverage.
