Incomplete Construction of A-14 Highway Due to Environmental Issues
July 13, 2026
The new A-14 highway, intended to connect Spain and France, has stalled due to environmental concerns. So far, only 18 kilometers out of the planned 180 have been constructed, costing taxpayers 110 million euros. The project is deemed incomplete and unusable, as construction has abruptly stopped. Despite its initial promise to improve road transport, the lack of funding and environmental studies complicate its continuation. Government plans are now focusing on expanding national highway N-230 instead.
