Increase in Vehicle Traffic in Cyprus

July 18, 2026

Vehicle traffic in Cyprus has reached record levels over the past decade, with a concerning increase in movement on both central and intercity roads. Currently, daily traffic has exceeded 100,000 vehicles on the bypass of Agios Athanasios in Limassol. Other areas such as Archangelos Avenue and the Nicosia-Larnaca and Limassol-Nicosia highways have also experienced significant traffic increases. These continuous increases range from 2% to 12%, making conditions on the road networks increasingly challenging. This growth raises concerns about traffic management and road safety.
