New Development in the Case of Metropolitan Tychicos
July 28, 2026
Metropolitan Tychicos receives a second chance and will not be dismissed for now, despite his legal actions against the Holy Synod. The Archbishop, despite pressures and criticisms, offered him opportunities to return and take on episcopal duties. Although the Holy Synod warned him, no new penalties have been imposed so far. The matter will be reconsidered if it is deemed that his actions harm the Church or if he proceeds with an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. The decisions of the Holy Synod are considered final and unassailable according to the Constitution of Cyprus.
