Football clubs face new tax debts

Some football clubs in the First Division of Cyprus are starting to accumulate new tax debts to the Tax Department while strict measures are being implemented. Despite having complied with their previous obligations, they have reported new debts totaling around €1 million, related to VAT and Income Tax. The tax commissioner sent a letter with a deadline until August 20 for the repayment of these debts. If they do not comply, the state will proceed with the seizure of the clubs' bank accounts. The situation is considered manageable, but the state has stated that it will not tolerate the accumulation of debts.
