Increase in State Funding for Municipalities: Negotiations Continue

The Minister of the Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, met with the Minister of Finance, Maki Keraunou, to prevent a strike planned by Municipal Services over state funding. The state funding for municipalities will increase from €117 million to €156.1 million by 2027, which is seen positively by mayors, but is considered insufficient for their smooth operation. Despite the improved proposal, municipal employees staged a three-hour work stoppage. The situation remains under negotiation to resolve the differences.
