Promoting Lionfish in Cyprus: A New Culinary Asset
August 5, 2026
The Development Company of Larnaca and Famagusta is launching a campaign to promote lionfish in Cyprus. The aim is to turn an ecological threat into a culinary asset. The campaign includes advertisements, collaborations with chefs, and educational materials to increase the consumption of lionfish. The budget is €80,000, funded by the EU and the Cypriot government. Lionfish is delicious and nutritious but needs to be systematically fished to protect local marine ecosystems.
