Presidential Pardon for Inmate Releases

The release of 68 inmates has begun through a presidential pardon due to the holiday of Dekapentavgoustos. This move comes after coordination between the Attorney General and the Central Prison administration to address the overcrowding issue. Among those released are 27 Cypriots and 41 foreign nationals. Inmates convicted of serious crimes are excluded from this pardon. Currently, the prisons house over 1,100 inmates, while their capacity is only 800.
