Concerns Over Fuel Price Hikes and Lack of Oversight
August 13, 2026
The Cyprus Consumers Association is expressing doubts about recent fuel price hikes in Cyprus, with President Mario Drousiotis stating that there are indications of unjustifiable price levels. The price of heating oil has nearly increased by 50% since March, raising concerns as the winter season approaches. Overall, the prices of gasoline and diesel have risen by 21% and 26%, respectively. Drousiotis is calling for more transparency regarding price monitoring and expresses concerns about the adequacy of oversight from authorities. He is also questioning the recent fuel subsidies that were implemented.
