Stagnation in Cypriot Negotiations Following Meeting of Negotiators
August 21, 2026
The recent meeting between the two negotiators did not lead to positive developments regarding the Cypriot issue. There was no progress made on confidence-building measures either. The Greek Cypriot side suggested increasing the frequency of meetings, but the Turkish Cypriot side did not provide a constructive response. All eyes are now on the upcoming meeting on August 26 between President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Erhürman. Erhürman appears to focus on blaming the Greek Cypriot side rather than seeking substantial progress.
