New Permanent Desalination Units in Cyprus

The Cabinet has decided to construct three new permanent desalination units in Cyprus to tackle water scarcity. These units will be located in Dekelia, Agia Thekla, and Paphos, with a total daily capacity of 180,000 cubic meters. In addition, the Mobile Desalination Unit in Ayia Napa has been canceled, and the Floating Unit in Germasogeia has been postponed. Furthermore, a six-year desalination plan is being implemented for the period 2025-2031, along with a long-term plan until 2050. These decisions aim to strengthen the country's water security.
