Revised Cost of Cyprus-Greece Electricity Interconnection

September 8, 2026

The electricity interconnection between Cyprus and Greece is expected to cost more than €1.9 billion, as discussed in the Parliamentary Energy Committee. The Finance Minister stated that this amount mainly covers the cost of the cable, excluding additional construction needs and maintenance. The Energy Minister mentioned that the revised cost will be known by the end of the year. There are questions regarding Cyprus's participation in the project and management rights. Officials believe that this project will not lead to lower electricity prices in Cyprus.
