Akanthou is being transformed into a tourist destination similar to Ayia Napa, with many tourist accommodations being built. Many properties in the area lack title deeds, which could create problems for their heirs. This is highlighted by Loizos Michail, a member of the Refugees' Association. Additionally, several plots have been declared by more than one owner, leading to uncertainty. There are concerns that the Turks might exploit this situation.
