Changes to Child Benefit Starting in 2027

The Cabinet approved a proposal for the reform of the child benefit, which will take effect on January 1, 2027. The reform includes increases in allowances and an extension of income thresholds. The fiscal cost amounts to €12.5 million, benefiting 17,000 families and 23,500 children. Additionally, the change removes previous distortions affecting families' access to benefits. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of combining services with allowances for the effectiveness of the policy.
