Mental Health Management in Cyprus: Need for Improvement
September 11, 2026
The management of individuals with mental health issues in Cyprus shows serious weaknesses. Children and adults are transported by police vehicles from city to city to receive necessary care, often treated as criminals. Healthcare is inadequate, with the country having the lowest spending on mental health in the EU. There is an urgent need for legal changes so that patients and their families no longer have to suffer. Authorities have been called to promote solutions to recurring problems.
