Critical Waste Management Situation in Cyprus

The waste management situation in Cyprus remains critical, with 65% of waste ending up in landfills. The Parliamentary Audit Committee is examining the responsibilities of all involved in this failure, questioning whether the current state is due to objective difficulties or neglect. Koshia has reached its limits, and Cyprus must reduce landfill disposal to below 10% by 2035. Waste management is fragmented among various authorities. In this context, transitional interventions worth €162 million have been planned.
