Negative decision on the sale of Turkish Cypriot property

September 19, 2026

A Turkish Cypriot's application to sell his property in the free areas was rejected by the Custodian of Turkish Cypriot Properties. An investigation by the Intelligence Service revealed that the applicant resides in Greek Cypriot property and claims to be a resident of London. The 88-year-old Turkish Cypriot appealed to the Administrative Court, but his request was denied three times. The investigations showed that he had built apartments on Greek Cypriot land. This case highlights the complexity of property sales processes between the two communities.
