Proposals for Reducing Heating Oil Tax and Support Measures

The Minister of Finance has initiated discussions with the EU to further reduce the Special Consumption Tax on heating oil, aiming to get it below 2.1 cents per liter. The price of oil is currently around €1.564 per liter, raising concerns about the economic impacts on citizens, especially in mountainous areas. Measures totaling over €70 million have already been approved to combat rising costs. The zero VAT rate will be extended until 2027 for basic goods and there will be subsidies for electricity. This intervention supports vulnerable groups and assists in the purchase and installation of photovoltaic systems.
