The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has received 29 applications for new drugs in the first half of 2026, addressing both common and rare diseases. Among these therapies are medications for cancer, HIV, and gene therapy for rare disorders. Europe is working to speed up the clinical trial process to facilitate the development of new drugs. Also under review is a new mRNA vaccine against influenza for adults. Proposed reforms are expected to significantly impact the evaluation and development process of therapies.
