Upgrade of 'Evangelos Florakis' Naval Base for Strategic Enhancement

The 'Evangelos Florakis' Naval Base in Mari is set to be upgraded to accommodate more than eight large warships and support vessels. This enhancement has been assigned to a consortium of Greek companies, aiming to strengthen Cyprus's strategic military infrastructure in the Eastern Mediterranean. The study will outline necessary facilities and specifications, while current capabilities are mainly focused on supporting the Cypriot Navy. Additionally, a helicopter pad is planned to support large helicopters with U.S. funding. This new infrastructure is expected to provide significant strategic support to European and allied forces.
