Culling of Animals in Infected Foot-and-Mouth Disease Units

October 12, 2026

Veterinary Services have begun culling animals in five infected sheep and goat farms considered suspect. These cases began in the summer, with the first infection detected in July. A total of 126 farms have been infected with foot-and-mouth disease. The culling process has already started, while efforts are being made to preserve traditional breeds. Currently, no new positive cases have been detected for a month.
