Closure of Beds in Private Hospitals Due to Nurse Shortage
October 13, 2026
Private hospitals in the General Health System are forced to close beds due to a shortage of nurses. The president of the Employers and Industrialists Federation noted that the issue has affected hospitals in several cities and may expand further. Despite attempts to avoid postponing surgeries, the situation remains critical. Proposed legislative amendments do not seem to improve the situation. Requirements, such as knowledge of the Greek language at a high level, make it challenging to hire foreign nurses.
