Upgrade of Cyprus Air Defense with BARAK MX
October 15, 2026
Nicosia is completing its air defense with the addition of a BARAK MX system. Despite rumors of acquiring more Israeli systems, no official decisions have been made so far. The existing Russian systems TOR-M1 and BUK will remain with the National Guard. Ordering new systems does not automatically mean retiring the Russian equipment. The long-term support situation for these systems remains a concern.
