Supreme Court Denies Greek Cypriots' Appeal for Compensation Claims
October 15, 2026
The Supreme Court rejected an application from two Greek Cypriots to appeal directly regarding compensation from Turkey for properties in occupied Kyrenia. The applicants failed to demonstrate the legal requirements for their case to be heard. The Court of Appeals upheld Turkey's sovereign immunity, limiting the legal options for the applicants. They also sought recognition of their rights to a fair trial and property protection. However, the Supreme Court found that the case could not be considered following the previous Appeals Court decision.
