Changes to Import Charges for Products from China
October 20, 2026
Starting November 1st, consumers in Europe will have to pay an additional 2 euro charge for importing products from China, adding to the existing 3 euro tariff. This change aims to reduce unfair competition from Chinese e-commerce platforms. The new charges will be calculated per product category, not per package, meaning consumers may face higher costs. Despite an increase in the average declared value of shipments, the tariff has reduced the number of small parcels entering the European market. However, it is still unclear if these charges have significantly affected consumer demand.
