Turkey's Concern Over Cyprus's Air Defense Enhancement
October 20, 2026
Turkey is expressing concern over Cyprus's enhancement of its air defense with the Israeli BARAK MX system. This system will protect Cyprus from drones and missiles. Turkish officials regard it as more dangerous than the Russian S-300. Cyprus is considering additional Israeli defense systems, but no final decisions have been made. Notably, the Russian systems TOR-M1 and BUK will remain in Cyprus's defense arsenal for now.
