New Drug Reduces Risk of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke
October 26, 2026
A new drug, asundexian, promises to reduce the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke by 26%. The large international study OCEANIC-STROKE involved 12,327 patients who had recently suffered a stroke. Patients who received the new drug experienced fewer new episodes compared to those who received a placebo. Asundexian belongs to a new class of anticoagulants that prevents blood clot formation. This discovery is considered significant for future stroke prevention.
