Olguin to Meet with Famagusta Delegation
November 2, 2026
Maria Angela Olguin is scheduled to meet with the Famagusta municipal delegation at the end of the week after the council's mobilization. Mayor Simos Ioannou had been attempting to arrange a meeting for a year without success. The meeting aims to discuss the return of Famagusta to its lawful residents, per President Christodoulides' proposal. Despite positive developments, there are concerns about potential Turkish Cypriot representation. UN resolutions emphasize the need for the area to be returned to its lawful inhabitants.
