Concerns Over Captives' Allowances: Political Figure's Attempts to Promote Ineligible Individuals

The president of the Pancyprian Association of War Captives 1974, Vassos Christou, revealed that a political figure approached individuals who were not captives to help them receive an allowance. These individuals, although having only a captive's certificate, were not entitled to the annual €2,000 allowance. Christou stated that such offers were made to get them included in the list of captives. This information surfaced during a session of the parliamentary Committee for Refugees and Captives. Furthermore, the session was closed to journalists to record the names of those affected.
