Agreement on Opening Crossing Points and Demining Efforts
November 5, 2026
Maria Angela Olgin proposes a package agreement that includes demining and opening four crossing points. The Greek Cypriot side has already responded positively, agreeing with the proposals presented. The two sides appear to be close to an agreement on the crossing points, though there is a disagreement regarding the scope of demining. The Turkish government's response is expected soon, while the United Nations is planning a tripartite meeting to discuss the outcomes. The package includes 70,000 square meters of minefield clearance.
