Extension for construction of juvenile prisons and plans for mobile facilities

November 7, 2026

The Ministry of Justice will request an extension for the construction of juvenile prisons, with work on mobile facilities expected to begin soon. Currently, young detainees aged 17-21 live in a separate wing but are still within the same facility as other prisoners. The new prisons will be adaptable and meet international standards. The design includes the possibility of relocating them in the future to avoid additional costs. The Ministry is preparing a request to the Parliament for an extension of the legislation that mandates separate juvenile prisons.
