Preliminary Discussion on the Financial Responsibilities of the Electricity Interconnection Project
September 8, 2024
The government of Cyprus is seriously considering the issue of geopolitical risk and the potential obstruction of the electrical interconnection by Turkey. There are concerns about the financial responsibilities that may arise for Cyprus and Greece if the project is interrupted. The Tuesday meeting with Nexans will also focus on effective measures to reduce burdens on electricity consumers. Financial obligations related to the total contract cost of 1.4 billion euros are identified as the main topic for discussion.
