Voluntary Enlistment of Women in the National Guard Starting 2025

The government announced that from 2025 women will be able to voluntarily enlist in the National Guard with a minimum service of six months and a maximum of 14 months. President Christodoulides emphasized the development of the National Guard since its establishment in 1964 and its social contributions. Strengthening the deterrent power of the Republic of Cyprus is a priority, especially in light of regional challenges. The National Guard now has capabilities that extend beyond its military duties.
